House of the Dragon season 2: Release date, plot, and other rumors

daenerys of house targaryen

The second child of Lord Aerion Targaryen of Dragonstone and his wife, Valaena Velaryon, he had an older sister, Visenya, and a younger sister, Rhaenys ... Both of whom he married, which began the controversial semi-tradition of Targaryen polygamy. It is believed that Aegon married Visenya out of expectation and Rhaenys because he was smitten. He first sired a child with his younger sister-wife, Rhaenys, named Aenys. Five years later, he and his older sister-wife, Visenya, welcomed another son, Maegor.

A Clash of Kings

Upon the death of her husband, Daenerys led her Khalasaar into triumph, and she gained respect throughout Essos as the breaker of chains. She traveled to Westeros and fought the Night King in the battle of Winterfell. Eventually, she destroyed King’s Landing and got killed by her lover and cousin, Jon Snow. Daenerys Targaryen is the youngest child of King Aerys II Targaryen and his sister-wife Rhaella. Birthed at Dragonstone during a storm, Rhaella died, leaving only a young Prince Viserys as Daenerys’s only relative.

The Invasion of Westeros

When Viserys threatens her, Drogo kills him by pouring molten gold over his head. With Viserys dead, Daenerys sees herself as the heir to the Targaryen dynasty and responsible for reclaiming the throne for her family. In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Daenerys was born on the Targaryen island refuge of Dragonstone eight months after her father's death. During the Rebellion, the Mad King had his wife, Rhaella (who was pregnant with Daenerys) and Viserys ferried away to Dragonstone. He kept Rhaegar's family (his wife, Elia, and their children Aegon and Rhaenys) with him at the Red Keep, where they were brutally killed during the Sack of King's Landing. Rhaegar himself died in battle against Robert Baratheon, but he secretly conceived a child with Lyanna Stark during the incident that started Robert's Rebellion.

Father

The Night King reanimated Viserion as a wight, leaving Drogon and Rhaegal as Daenerys's living dragons. In the story, Daenerys is in her early teens living in exile in Essos, where she has developed a Tyroshi accent. She remains dependent on her abusive older brother, Viserys, and is forced to marry Dothraki horselord Khal Drogo in exchange for Viserys' army to reclaim the Iron Throne in Westeros. Daenerys adapts to life with the Dothraki, and her character emerges as strong, confident and courageous. She becomes the heir of the Targaryen dynasty after her brother's murder and plans to reclaim the Iron Throne herself, seeing it as her birthright. A pregnant Daenerys loses her husband and child, but blood magic allows Daenerys to hatch three of her dragon eggs.

She has also earned many other nominations and accolades for her portrayal. Her character arc from heroic to villainous at the end of the HBO series has been a source of controversy with critics and fans. The series, however, appears to suggest that Daenerys might, in fact, have some actual fireproofing ability. In addition to the bath scene in "Winter Is Coming", Daenerys doesn't notice the heat from the brazier in "A Golden Crown", and notably, her hands are unburnt, while Irri's are blistered immediately after picking up the egg.

After Visenya died, Vhagar went without a rider for nearly thirty years. Prince Baelon the Brave proved worthy to ride her, and they fought in battles for House Targaryen up until his death of old age. When Ancient Valyria was consumed by a volcano (The Doom), dragons were almost wiped out.

Though his reign was rocky, Aegon V created many reforms to help the smallfolk. When his first son Duncan broke his wedding to Lord Lyonel Baratheon’s daughter, a rebellion began, leading to Lyonel’s death. Aegon V later died in a fire at the Tragedy of Summerhall, and his son Jaehaerys became King. Though most of Daeron’s reign was peaceful, his son Baelor died defending the hedge knight Ser Duncan. After the Prince’s death, the Great Spring sickness ravaged most of Westeros, killing thousands, including Daeron II and his immediate heirs.

It is debatable whether Daenerys was a highly skilled battle commander. She did win some impressive victories, especially her swift conquest of Slaver's Bay and the Siege of Meereen, but each time she had a vast (and unexpected) advantage in numbers, as well as the support of her three dragons. Thus, her victories had more to do with overwhelming the enemy than brilliant tactical leadership. On the other hand, knowing that she was inexperienced in the art of warfare, Daenerys took care to surround herself with experienced and capable warriors who could advise her and help coordinate her battles. Daenerys certainly knew how to put her dragons to decisive effect in battle; her use of Drogon at the fall of Astapor and the Battle of the Goldroad ended both battles almost before they started.

Viserys believed that because House Tyrell of the Reach and House Martell of Dorne fought on the Targaryen side during Robert's Rebellion, the prospects were good that they'd be willing to join his cause and rebel against Robert. By the time Daenerys reached Astapor in Slaver's Bay, her dragons had grown enough to provide limited air support in certain engagements, and she had gained the loyalty of an additional knight, Ser Barristan Selmy. It should be pointed out that although limited, the dragons at this time are capable of providing the only air support in the known world. Daenerys meets Theon and Yara Greyjoy, who have arrived to pledge their fleet to the Targaryen cause. Back in Westeros, Varys secures the assistance of Dorne and House Tyrell.

Daenerys grew up living on the sufferance of others, frequently turned out on the street with little warning when their patrons lost interest in them. Viserys was reduced to pathetically begging for support throughout the Free Cities as they moved from patron to patron. In the process, they traveled from Braavos to Myr, then to Tyrosh, then to Qohor, then to Volantis, then to Lys, and ultimately to Pentos (each of the Free Cities except Norvos and Lorath).

Maegor was found dead of mysterious circumstances on the Iron Throne. He had no heir, so the succession passed to Aenys and Alyssa's oldest surviving son, Jaehaerys. One of the issues that had plagued his father's rule was that of incestuous marriage. The Faith of the Seven (the dominant religion in Westeros) wanted the practice to end; they rose up against Aenys when he betrothed his oldest children (Rhaena and Aegon) to each other. Following in his family's tradition, the new King Jaehaerys (who was 14 and not yet old enough to rule in practice) wanted to marry his sister Alysanne.

Aegon is initially certain that Daenerys will marry him and give him her armies and dragons for the purpose of conquering Westeros; in contrast to Jon's show character, Aegon does not see anything wrong about marrying his aunt. Aegon follows Tyrion's advice; so far, Daenerys has not heard of him. It has yet to be seen how she will react when she finds out she has a living family relative, whose claim to the Iron Throne is stronger than hers. In Season 7, Daenerys starts off by wearing all black, strong-shouldered gowns. This new style is used to establish her presence and announce her power in Westeros.

Aerys I Targaryen became King, but Daemon II Blackfyre incited a rebellion. Upon his death, Haegon I Blackfyre led the Golden Company to claim the Iron Throne. However, he died, and Aegor got captured and sent to the Night’s Watch. With an ambition to conquer Dorne like the first Aegon Targaryen, Daeron attacked the kingdom and captured it for a year.
